Happy Mail

Sunday Sep 15th we got word that Grandpa Mitchell would finally be having the loooong awaited, desperately needed kidney transplant the following day.   I was so excited I could hardly stand it. The surgery went well and he is doing fantastic.  Dad was of course the kindest most gracious patient the hospital staff has ever had.  It was exciting to talk to him on the phone.  You could just tell he feels a hundred times better.  I didn't hear the pain in his voice and it just makes me so happy.  Through this entire illness my Dad has never complained.  He has been such a great Christ like example to the kids and I.  I am so blessed to have such an amazing Dad.

We wanted to give him a fun little get well gift.  I found the largest empty pill bottle in my stash and decorated it with scrapbook paper.  I wasn't sure what I was going to fill it with though since candy would not be a very wise choice to give a recently transplanted diabetic.  I decided to cut big white "happy pills" out of paper.  Then I made an accordion strip for the kids to each write a little note on. Next I tied the pills up with bakers twine.  I of course forgot to take a picture of the card that went with it, but it matched the paper on the outside.  The kids still pray for Grandpa every single prayer and we all are just so grateful for this wonderful miracle!
