5, 4, 3, 2, 1......BLAST OFF!!!

Saturday was Jaden's birthday. Of all the parties we've done I think this was one of my favorites. When the guest arrived they got to decorate their own flying saucers with stars and alien stickers. . (Two paper bowls 1 red 1 blue stapled together) They turned out adorable. I had told Christy about the flying saucers and she came up with the idea to cut a whole in the top and have that be where they put their prizes from the games. I LOVED that idea, and that's what we did. I made a huge rocket and command station for the kids to play with and it was a huge hit. Next we played a game where they had to put on dish gloves and add a nut and washer to a bolt all under water to help them see what it's like for the astronauts to work in their suits. Ryan spinned them all in the computer chair and then they had to get up and walk to a gigantic moon we had drawn in the driveway. We did a shooting star toss (A ball with tissue paper on it wrapped with a rubberband) they had to try and land on one of the sidewalk chalk stars while standing in the moon. We had a spray the alien game with a giant rocket squirt gun, a balancing game while on the trampoline and alien, alien astronaut duck duck goose style. The cake was really cute. Thanks to my mom who was patient with all of my many questions I had. I made 6 mini cakes and frosted them. They started to fall when I got the 4th one on so Ryan quickly grabbed some wood and a dowel and drilled them together. He covered the base wood with a cut-up plastic table cloth then we stuck the cakes down the dowel. It worked like a charm. I made a cone top out of paper (my mom's suggestion) for the rocket and the fins were made out of red fun foam. We sprinkled m&m's on the wood and at one point some of the kids stuck them on the cake. :) They all were so cute and LOVED the cake espeically when we lit the candles and it looked like the rocket was getting ready to blast off. Jaden is such a sweet sweet boy and we are so blessed to have him in our family. Happy Birthday, J-frog!!!

Birthday invite

We're busy over here getting ready for Jaden's birthday on Saturday. He wanted to have an Astronaut party and I was thrilled because I haven't done that theme yet. It's been a lot of fun planning and getting ready for it. Here is the invite we gave to all his friends.

Spring Break camping trip

For the last part of spring break we decided to go camping. We loaded up the truck with all our camping gear, grabbed a QT for everybody and hit the road. It was about noon on St. Patricks day. Once we got there we all worked together and gathered firewood. I thought this was Becca's first camping trip, but then we remembered she went to Bear Lake with us two years ago. This was more of a ruff 'n it kind of campout though and it sure was fun.

Next we all pitched in and set up the tent. I just love spending time with my family. We sure have a lot of fun and work so good together if I do say so myself.

Now it was time to play. I bought the kids this rocket toy that they LOVED shooting. It was pretty cool. We also had bubbles and of course lots and lots of card/board games. We enjoyed a family hike and Kyle found this cool log that looked like a dragon.

I love this middle picture on the bottom. As much as Becca LOVED camping and being outdoors the princess in her shined thru and she did NOT like the smoke from the fire. If you look close she is sitting way back by the tent eating her hotdog that she had daddy roast for her due to said smoke. BUT....when we brought out the marshmellows she got use to the fire and LOVED it. It was so nice to get away and be all by ourselves.

I'm kind of sad spring break is over, we had so.much.fun! Can't wait for Summer!!!

St. Patricks Day

My cute sister Christy is so good at reaching out and making the many many miles between us not feel so far. She once again came up with a cute idea of how to celebrate St. Patricks Day together....but not. She sent out an email with the legend of St. Patrick and how the holiday came to be. Then she explained how her family always tries to catch the leprechaun and challenged us to try and trap him too and email her the pictures. I printed it out and had Kyle read it to us. Then we got out our supplies and made our trap. We had a lot of fun. And Becca kept saying "It's so excited we gonna have a leprechaun pet"

Each of the boys decorate a side and Becca did the top. We were all very excited to see if we could catch our leprechaun. Well....despite our best efforts we did not, and Becca was NOT happy about it. She just could not understand how he got away. We all thought it was hilarious which made her even more frustrated. haha.

Becca kept saying, "now I don't have a pet again" (her AND Kyle have been begging us for a dog) Once she saw what the Leprechaun left her and we told her she can try again next year she was way excited and back to her sweet happy self. (that's the nice thing about a Becca tantrum, she gets real mad, real fast, but bets over them quickly too). They all enjoyed a yummy breakfast of Lucky Charms cereal which we never buy in there rainbow bowls.

Later we delivered treats to my primary class, Becca's preschool and primary teacher and her cute little friends. I was worried she would say something about them getting the same treat the leprechaun left, so I just told her he left extras for her to share. She had a lot of fun delivering them.

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Future Missionary

The primary theme this year is "I Know The Scriptures Are True" . For every day that the kids read their scriptures they get to put a gold coin in a jar. When the jar is full they let one of the kids give a Book Of Mormon to a friend. Well Kyle got to give one this time and he was so excited to do so. He knew exactly who he was going to give it to.

Within 2 minutes of being home he had written a note in the cover of the book. He was so excited. He has talked about Jesus with his friend Anna before.

Monday morning he was so excited to give her the book. I was actually seriously impressed with his excitement. I get nervous when I try and do missionary work, but he just knew that he wanted to share it and wasn't one bit nervous. Well he gave her the book at school and she was ok with it. Her neighbor who was with her though said "she doesn't want to read that, mormons aren't Christen" Kyle said oh yes we are, Christians believe in Jesus and who wouldn't believe in him". He had 5 of his buddies with him who are all members of our church and they all said "yes, we are too Christians" they all said it and the neighbor kid said, ok, ok you beileve" hahaha I thought it was cute when he told me the story. I asked "you were nice weren't you" and he said yes, but we had to let him know the truth" I love my Kyle. He is such a great example to me.

For FHE this week we talked about the Primary theme for the Year. "I Know The Scriptures Are True" Ryan and I really want our kids to be able to honestly say that by the end of the year. We have enjoyed reading the scriptures together more diligently as a family. I love hearing the boys read all on their own and be able to answer our questions at the end of reading. The boys both have their own nice set of scriptures but Becca does not. After a little lesson on the scriptures we headed to Distrabution and bought a teeny tiny Book of Mormon for Becca to read and take to church. She was very proud of them. We also let the boys get some Book of Mormon cards.

Then we headed to McDonalds because the kids always want to go there and we very rarely take them so we had dinner and let them play in the play area for activity. We got icecream cones for refreshments. It was fun.

I just love my little family. We have so much fun together and I feel so blessed when I am with them.
