Broken femur

We were so so sooooo excited our Beloved cousin Jefferson completed his two year Mission.
We got in the car and made the long drive so we could hear him speak in church.
We had just arrived and were in town for less than 30 minutes when Ky came running into the house yelling that Jfrog had broken his leg.
Ry jumped right up and ran outside.
I wasn't too far behind him.  I honestly thought it was probably just a sprain.
Ry took one look at it and ran for the car.  It was without a doubt broken.
J was so brave.  Didn't even cry once despite the excruciating pain he was in.
Ry ran into the ER and said "my 12 year old son broke his femur"  A doctor and two nurses ran outside and helped lift him out of the car onto a gurney.  That was horrible.  There just was not a good place to pick him up.  His entire leg hurt. When taking him off the gurney onto the bed they used a sheet to lift him.  That helped a little but was still very painful.
They got him inside and took some x-rays.
Sure enough they confirmed what we knew, it was broken.
His right leg was a good 4 inches shorter than his left.
They put him on morphine right away.  Uncle Kendall and Ry gave him a blessing in which he was told in time he would heal and have no lasting effects.  What a comfort that was to me.
The worst part of this whole ordeal for Ry and I was when they had to put his leg in traction.  They had two men at the end of his bed that literally pulled his leg down in place while and one man held his thigh in place.  I was trying to stay calm and comfort him as he was screaming bloody murder but I know he heard the fear in my voice.  Ry quickly put his arm on his chest got close to his face and calmly talked him through it.  He told him to take deep breaths and stop resisting.  He explained the more he pulls away the harder they have to pull to get it back in place. Ry is such a sweet dad and does a great job and taking over a crisis and bringing peace and calm.  I definitely witnessed the first responder in him through this entire ordeal.
The hospital we were at wanted to transfer him over to the childrens hospital since he was 12.  Thankfully he was pretty out of it and they were able to move him there easily.  Early the next morning he went into surgery to have a steel rod put in.
Jfrog was out of it most of the day.  When he woke up Ry showed him the xray on his phone
Ry explained to him the kind of break he had
and the traction they put him in and all about the surgery.
They wanted Jfrog up and moving that day.
A physical therapist came in with crutches and a belt to go around his waist that we hold in case he falls or loses balance
He did a great job and impressed the staff with how well he got around
It was funny.  Every single person who heard it was a femur break asked if he had seen the Brian Regan comedy skit about a broken femur.  We showed it to J frog and he got a pretty good laugh out of it.
Visitors had to be at least 12 due to flu season so the little girls couldn't come see him but the cousins and friends came and cheered him up.  Our girl cousins came too with cookies and a giant card that said you're one tough cookie.  It was darling.  Grandma and Grandpa Mitchell also came and brought a cute candy bar bouquet.
Ry was very sweet and didn't leave his side.  My parents and sisters took such good care of my little girls and really showed them a great time.  I especially love the cute little bond that lil sis and Aunt Carrie made. It melted my heart to see them together.  I was able to sneak out and listen to Jeffersons homecoming talk.  It was amazing and really touched my heart.

I recently started a new thing for my scrapbooks which is what I call "Point of View Scrapbooking.
I had everyone in our family sit down and write their point of view as to what happened this day.  We did this for Big Sisters baptism {Clements, we'd love your point of view of that special day} and other extra special days.  It is so fun to read all the different little details and point of view of others.  So....if YOU would be interested and willing I'd love to have a little paragraph or two of what you remember from this ordeal.  You can email it to me and I will tuck it away with this scrapbook page.  Hope you'll play along!

Preschool Evaluation

On 1/28/15 Lil Sis finally got to wear her new backpack and got to school
She was so excited and walked so such confidence
She had a great Preschool evaluation and Mom loved getting to hear more about the special needs programs available to her.
She sure does melt my heart!

Dish buddies

Oh Lil Sis....
 Thank you!
 Only YOU
can make

dish duty

this cute
 and
 not seem
 so
 bad!
What a doll you are!
J is a pretty sweet brother to work so cute with her and allow her to "help".
{BLESSED}

After school shenanigans

This makes my heart happy.
We have the sweetest neighborhood friends and I love that they all come to our home to play.
I also love when the big kids "hang out" at our house.
This day they had an epic air soft war.
I love this kid and his ability to include others and make it fun for everyone.

Mommys lil helper

I was sorting laundry when Lil Sis came in to "help".
After seeing her work I asked her to put it all back into the basket.
When I looked over I was pleased to see she did put it all back.
I also got a good little giggle about her being "IN" the basket as well.
She makes even the mundane job of laundry fun!

A few of her favorite things

Lil Sis is such a tiny ball of fun.
Yes, her jammies are on backwards and yes it's on purpose.
She kept stripping down to her diaper after we put her to bed,
then wake up in the middle of the night frozen like a popsicle.
So we just started putting them on backwards.
She LOVES this blanket and dog!
She always carries her blanket, dog a cute little pillow my mom made for Big Sis years ago.
She calls them ganket, dog, nallow.
Always in the order and always says them as one word.
So if she's watching a show, reading books or just wants to sunggle she asks for all three.
It's so cute!

Resolutions

One of my New Years Resolution is to make my home a more organized, functional and happy place to be.  For my first big project of the year I tackled my catch all china cabinet.  I had it painted a few years ago and I absolutely love it.  It use to be a cherry wood color.  It really is a beautiful piece especially now that all of the junk is out of it.  As you can see I had a cute tiny little helper.  It makes me very happy now each time I look at it.  Excited to move on to the next project.
